The dreadful year of 2020 where lawlessness was becoming popular amongst people of planet earth. All hope was lost when a powerful alien who was first discovered in China, terrorised the whole of Asia in a space of a few months, then he conquered all of Europe. As if he was heartless, he then went for the most vulnerable continent, Mother Africa.
This alien is the 19 th son of Corona Virus family – his name is COVID-19. Stronger than his relatives, namely cold, flu, fever and Spanish Flu. He hails undefeated and continues to ravage
the world.
Things were strange when he arrived in South Africa because he had heard of a hero that could not kill him or stop him, but the hero could make his impact not as harmful as it could be.
Soweto is a township in South Africa, in Gauteng province and Thirelo and Thandi, both 12 years old, lived there. COVID-19 was on his way, carried by a man called Mark Shwarts who went on a business trip to Italy.
COVID-19 is very small and has the power to stick to people’s hands, bodies and internal organs like the lungs. Thus it was in Mark’s lungs ready to destroy and kill Mark and other South Africans.
On Tuesday afternoon, 25 March 2020, Thirelo runs like a mad man to Thandi’s house. When he gets there, he yells, ‘ Thandi! Thandi!’
Thandi runs in shock to the door and asks, ‘ Thirelo, why are you shouting so much?’
Thirelo replies,’He is here! He is here! What are we going to do?’
Thandi, confused, replies, ‘ Who is here?’
Thirelo cries out, ‘The killer alien COVID-19!’
They both start crying then and start to alert their friends and neighbours.
Three months pass and COVID-19 has killed thousands of people and closed businesses and schools. He was sure that he had won. Then stepped the one he was hearing rumours about: yes, indeed, he was here!! The protector of South Africans!! He was the only one who can reduce the effects of COVID-19’s attacks, the one and only MR CONSTITUTION OF SOUTH AFRICA – he hails undefeated in his home land.
Mr Constitution of South Africa does not waste time to hit back and he says, ‘On behalf of Thirelo and Thandi, whom I heardmcry, every child has the right to basic education, including adult basic education, further education which my friend the mighty government has made available. COVID-19 replied with a laugh, ‘If you let those kids go to school, I will be there.’ Mr COSA replied,’ my good old friend the internet has made the right to education possible through online learning.
