How I Learned To Read

Grade 9, Africa House College

It starts off with a young boy named “Blessing”.

Blessing is a boy who does not know how to read.

Blessing never saw reading as an important thing because he used to think that playing games, sleeping, and other daily actives don’t really need a person to know how to read.

Blessing lived with his mother, father, and his little brother. Blessing was a Grade 4 learner who used to go to a school called Yeoville Community School and he was nine years old.

For Blessing, school was a place for making friends and playing games, but the third term was coming. Blessing had already failed the first term and second term. Blessing’s mother and father were not happy with the results he was getting. So Blessing’s mother and father decided that they should send Blessing to some extra lessons, and buy him some books to read at home.

Blessing was also then no longer allowed to play, or go see his friends. Blessing was forced to stay at home all day, reading books to improve his reading. Blessing was also forced to try his best in class to pass the next term.

The next term had arrived and Blessing had changed his opinion about reading. He saw reading as an important thing to life, thanks to his parents compelling Blessing to read his books and study.

Blessing had passed the term with flying colours and this made him very happy because this meant that all his hard work paid off.

Blessing did the same thing in the fourth term and moved to the next grade with a large smile on his face. Blessing’s parents no longer had the need to compel Blessing to read and study, because he saw that thanks to the studying and reading, he would get good grades.

Blessing saw that he had a bright future ahead of him and Blessing thanked his parents for everything they had done for him.
