Grade 9, New Model Private College
Have you ever wondered how it would be to grow up without a mother? I have a mother who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take. When I just stare into space, I imagine living my life without the woman who carried me for nine months, Ngiono Umama engimthanda ngenhliziyo yami yonke engimbiza ngeqhawekazi lami.
When my mother knocks off from work, she expects me to have cooked, done my homework, dished up our dinner and run her hot water for a bath. I do all these chores by myself. Sometimes I don’t manage to do them and I get shouted at for that. I really understand why my mother shouts at me. It is because she has to try her best to get us a better education and make us successful people in life (mina nengane zasedladleni).
Before I go to bed at night, I always pray to the Lordsaying, “Dear Lord, if not for anything else, but for the sake of my mum, make me successful. I owe that woman a lot and please keep her until I become successful in life.” Nsuku zonko ngivuka nomama wami ngimbheke esiya emsebenzini ngo 05:00 am ekuseni. My other would go to work every day and get shouted at for a silly little mistake. I am grateful and honoured to have a person like her, who is able to put food on the table for us. Not just putting food on the table but also making us live a better life. I know I may not live a luxurious life but I am very grateful for what I have. Umama uhlezi egitshela ukuthi iminwe
ayilingani kodwa ke ngiyazi ukuthi ngelinye ilanga nami ngizaba ngumuntu empilweni kodwa umuntu azayitshintsha impilo ka maa wami sengikhulile. My mother always taught me the difference between good and bad things and I know that good things always come to those who wait.
My mother, my friend, so dear throughout my life. She is the sunshine to light my day. All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother. My mother is an angel who loves unconditionally. Mama wami! Qhawekazi lami.
